Arthur Ahlgrim

Owner/Director (Retired)

For over 50 years, Arthur Ahlgrim has been a resident of Elmhurst. Throughout these 50 years, Mr. Ahlgrim was an owner/director of Ahlgrim Funeral Homes and maintained an extraordinarily active civic schedule. Aside from all the hours of work within the funeral home and funeral industry, his civic activities included serving on the board of directors for the Elmhurst Historical Commission, and the Community Bank of Elmhurst. He is also a past member of the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital’s Board of Governors. Both Arthur and his wife, Arlene, are also active members of Elmhurst’s Epiphany Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Scott Ahlgrim

Owner/Director

As Ahlgrim Funeral Home owner and director, lifelong Elmhurst resident Scott Ahlgrim has prided himself in service to his community. A graduate of York Community High School, Augustana College, and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. A fourth generation Funeral Director, and son of Arthur, Scott is not only knowledgeable regarding the funeral industry, but he knows his community as well. He is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Elmhurst, the Spring Road Business Association, has served on the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and is a current member of the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital's Board of Governors. Aside from the business organizations, Scott and his wife, Charity are active members of Elmhurst’s St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.

Not only does Scott contribute to the Elmhurst community, but he also maintains an active role within the funeral service community. He is a past president of the DuPage County Funeral Directors Association, has served on the Board of Directors of the Funeral Directors Service Association of Greater Chicago and is a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. He is also a member of the prestigious Order of the Golden Rule. This selective organization chooses only independently owned funeral homes that help to maintain a higher standard of quality and professionalism in the funeral service industry. This involvement, along with his lifelong involvement in the funeral industry makes Scott a useful resource and “neighborhood friend” to rely on for questions, prearrangement information, or at-need arrangements.
