Charles S. Anderson, 91, of Elmhurst, Illinois, passed away Dec 12, 2019. Visitation at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., Elmhurst from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019. Prayers 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the funeral home, going to Visitation Church, Elmhurst. Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery with military honors.
Growing up on the family farm near Shelby, Michigan, Charles honorably served in the US Navy, Pacific Fleet, WWII & Korea. For action in the Siege of Wonsan, he received a battle star. In 1954, he graduated from Michigan Tech in Geological Engineering.
Msgr. Plunkett united in marriage Charles and his beloved bride, Angela Lizzadro, at Immaculate Conception Church, Nov 19, 1955. God blessed them with 10 children and 64 years together. Charles very much loved his family and friends, always placing them before himself.
Working in electrical contracting as an officer and owner of Knott & Mealey and The Edward Electric Company, Charles employed IBEW Local 9 linemen and Local 134 wiremen to perform construction and maintenance work across the Chicagoland area.
With the help of many Angels and Saints, Charles became a Catholic at the age of 60, making Jesus Christ the center of his life forever.
Charles is survived by his wife, Angela; children, Miriam Lytle, Charles E. (Jan) Anderson, Ella (Garri) Budynsky, Fr. Gabriel Anderson, Gerard (Meghan) Anderson, Dorothy (Don) Asher, Mary Anderson, Laurence (Charlene) Anderson, and Amy (Paul) Wheeler; 17 grandchildren, John V., Joe (Ida), Will (Lydia) Lytle; Carol Anderson, Laura (Zach) Porter, Victoria (Pat) Doyle, Jenna, Clara Budynsky, Kirsten (Matt) Anderson, Jenny (John) Biechele-Speziale, Faith Anderson, Winona Asher, Zach Muller, Charles, Alexander, Justin Anderson,
Kevin Wheeler; 6 great-grandsons: John, Charles, Peter, Nicholas Lytle; Jackson, Andrew Porter; brother, Arthur (Maureen) Anderson; in-laws, Joseph (Carol) Lizzadro, John (Reva) Lizzadro, George Nicholas, Sr., Bonita (Jim) Hay, David (Debbie) McPherson and many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy Robinson, his son, Vincent, sisters in-law, Diana Nicholas and Terese Lizzadro.
